THE presidential candidate of the Action Congress (AC), Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has described President Olusegun Obasanjo as a dictator, saying he is the most powerful democratically elected president in the world.

Speaking at the venue of the AC North Central presidential rally in Jos, Plateau State, the presidential candidate said what Nigerians were experiencing in terms of governance was nothing but a one-man show, adding that Obasanjo was the only one ruling the country.

He said Nigeria had not experienced democracy in its true sense in the past seven years because of the dictatorial tendency of President Obasanjo.

He added that that this was why the country still remained underdeve-loped.

"Without democracy, there cannot be progress and development, that is why democrats like us are trying all our efforts to ensure that all the tenets of democracy are strictly observed contray to what is being practised now," he said.

He promised that AC would ensure that rule of law and genuine democracy prevailed if he was voted into power.

Vice President Abubakar, who said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had failed the nation and could only rely on rigging to capture power in the coming elections, said as result of the injustice being perpetrated, all the founding members of the party had jesttioned it for the AC.

He urged Nigerians to protect their votes and ensure that results are counted and collated on the spot, adding that PDP members knew that the party was no longer a force to be reckoned with and therefore depended on rigging.

The presidential standard-bearer said his government would set up sound economic team to address all the factors militating against Nige-ria's economy, adding that small scale entrepreneur-ship would be encouraged.
